Tandems are welcome
on any of our trips, yet we have designed these tours which we consider to be
especially attractive for tandem teams.
In France, we'll be cycling the hills and
valleys adjacent to the Rhone
Valley in our epic journey from Geneva to Nice.
Due to the popularity of our
French
Alps tour for single bikes, we offer a 'petite' version, which
will challenge but not overwhelm the strong, experienced tandem team.
Provence and
Dordogne in the South of France are the
settings for two leisurely but comprehensive tours in these regions
steeped in history and tantalizing with cultural and culinary delights.
This season our
Pyrenees tour takes a
moderate turn; we've planned a tandem friendly tour which will help open this
splendid region to our tandem friends as well as the more intermediate
cyclist. The classic Tour de France climbs of the Tourmalet, Cols
d'Aubisque, Peyresourde, and Aspin, are still there for the well-conditioned
experienced tandem team but will be optional for those who want a choice.
Our
Switzerland Lakes, Valleys,
Vistas tour
is designed to remove the 'intimidation factor' which invariable arises
with thoughts of tandem tours in Switzerland.
Beginning with leisurely riding along the Bodensee, we'll cruise up the
Emmental and Rheintal before a little more is demanded of us in the
spectacular foothills
beneath the Monch, Eiger, and Jungfrau.
We return to
Tuscany
in Italy for our annual tour, always a favorite, in this region known for its culinary and
cultural treasures.
We have chosen these venues because of
what they offer above and beyond their spectacular natural beauty: roads
mostly ignored by motor traffic, historic ruins and sites, delightful
ancient hilltop villages, bustling street markets, friendly rustic hotels,
excellent regional cuisine. These are just some of the many cultural
enrichments to the cycling experience in these six unique trips.
The pace and rhythm of the these tours
is leisurely and relaxed; the distances are moderate, and the routes are selected for their less mountainous terrain. However,
these can still be invigorating rides, as each day there will be options
for longer, hillier routes for tandem
partners wanting a greater challenge.
