The Cinque Terre, of 'Five Lands' of
Italy's Ligurian coast, is one of the most extended and unspoiled
natural areas of the Mediterranean. The five villages of the
Cinque Terre, clinging to cliffs which plunge to the sea, have been
isolated for thousands of years from Italy's main trade routes.
The centuries-old struggle to live in this difficult land has resulted
in a unique landscape and culture - the vineyards with their kilometers
of dry-stone walls, the fishermen with their boats and nets, and the
tiny pathways connecting valley to village to sea.
The alluring views, charming
villages and tantalizing flavors of Liguria (Italian Riviera)
and the Cinque Terre invite us to explore and linger for an hour
or a day. The pastel colors of seaside houses, the deep
blue of the Mediterranean, the coastline tinged with silver
where the sea meets the land will enchant and entice us with
many sightseeing possibilities from Genova-Nervi to La Spezia.
But the real delight is the
hospitality, the warm welcome, the human kindness full of salt
and tradition emanating from the 'Piazzetta' in Portofino, from
a pier decked with nets lying in the sun to dry, from the
fishing boats approaching the little harbor of Santa Margherita
Ligure and Sestri Levante.

This is the backdrop of our
tour of Cinque Terre and Beyond, and we invite you to join us in
our exploration - by bike, foot, or by boat - of this enchanting
region where time seems to stand still. |
