This year's underwater bike
expedition is not for the faint of heart. We will be
pioneering a route that is destined to become the Everest of
underwater bike trips.
Our journey will begin in the
picturesque island of Guam, an island that was heavily bombed in
WWII. We will be supported by our 'sag sub', so stragglers
needn't worry about getting left behind - definitely a concern
in these shark-infested waters. In fact, the world's
largest great white was spotted in an area we will be camping in
on the third night of our tour.
Over the course of the next
several days, we will make our way down to the 'low point' of
our expedition; the aptly named Challenger Deep, which, at
35,810 feet below sea level is, as they say, 'a long way from
Guam'. Once into the deepest part of the trench, we will
enjoy an evening's celebration, complete with local delicacies
like sightless worms and eels.
Alas, all good things come to
an end, but we are ready for the real challenge of getting
ourselves back to the surface. The next seven days will be
spent climbing loose sandy, silty slopes until finally we pop
out again at Guam.
Who says extreme can't be fun!
.
Our able mechanics will not
let this happen to your bike!
