Let's just say that no one has ever been disappointed for
lack of cycling on an Erickson tour, in terms of both route
quality and mileage/elevation gain quantities. The
2006 season will be no exception with our tempting array of
mountain-venue tours designed to satisfy and perhaps happily
exhaust the challenge-seeking, racer-in-training, hammerhead
cyclist, or Titan tandem team.
Beginning at the northern
end of the mountain chain known as the 'Alps' our loop through the
Austrian Alps, Tirol, and Beyond
will take us through
scenery too beautiful to
adequately describe - rolling, emerald green countryside dotted
with churches, chalets, castles and pastry shops, and dominated
by the majestic Alps. From charming alpine villages to some of the highest
alpine roads in Europe, we'll ride hard and relax at the end of the day as we
give ourselves up to the world-famous hospitality of the Austrians.
We never fail to
anticipate with enormous excitement our
French Alps Classic,
Petite French
Alps, and Pyrenees
Classic tours, which will not only challenge a multitude of past
and present Tour de France routes and cols, but will place
us in prime position to cheer for our heroes on this
year's Tour de France; Col de la Madeleine, Col du Galibier,
l'Alpe d'Huez. and Col du Tourmalet.
Continuing to the
southern end of the Alps we explore tiny, remote
roads and villages, but big passes and views, in the
Maritime Alps.
Returning to the
Dolomites in Italy, we
eagerly return to fabulous climbs and descents on the twisting roads which
connect high alpine passes with lush green meadows below.
Corsica
is a constant scenic
extravaganza, alternating from beautiful Mediterranean beaches to cliffside
roads to mountain passes, Great views are complimented by small winding roads.
A unique history, friendly people, great food, wonderful hotels all combine to
make this a relaxing tour, yet filled with enough challenging route choices to
keep the most experienced cyclist more than content.
We'll be cycling the hills and
valleys adjacent to the Rhone
Valley in our epic journey from Geneva to Nice
marveling in the unfolding cultural and scenic changes along the way.
Any of our tours designated for tandems and single bikes are an
excellent choice for a more leisurely cycling vacation. These are ideal
trips for the intermediate level cyclist, as well as for couples and groups
who enjoy riding and sightseeing together.
